Twitter servers on Sunday suffered brief outages as many users in India complained of inability to load posts or tweet. The problem, which started around 7 pm, was the same across mobile phones and desktops.

While some users were got the prompt: "Cannot retrieve Tweets at this time. Please try again later," others were greeted with the message, "Something went wrong, but don't fret -- it's not your fault."

The problem, however, seemed to have been rectified by 8.15 pm. According to Downdetector, 2,785 users reported the outage.

The outage came just a day before the planned relaunch of Twitter Blue service. The Twitter Blue subscription service allows its users to avail features such as the blue check mark, among others. However, the price of Twitter Blue will be higher for Apple users than others. People can subscribe to Twitter Blue on the web at $8 per month, or on iOS for $11 per month.

Twitter Blue subscribers with a verified phone number will get a blue check mark once they are approved. Some new features which will soon be available for Twitter Blue subscribers include their tweets being prioritised to help fight scams and spam, seeing 50 per cent fewer advertisements than non-verified people, ability to post longer videos to Twitter, and getting early access to select new features with Twitter Blue Labs.
