New Delhi: Giving in to the craze of digital collectibles, Twitter is now rolling out a new feature that lets NFT or non-fungible token owners as their profile pictures. This feature, being rolled out for Twitter Blue users only, will enable NFT owners customise by connecting their crypto wallet to their Twitter account and displaying an NFT as their profile photo.
Twitter Blue is the premium subscription service from the micro-blogging site.
"We’re adding NFTs as one of several ways to customize your Twitter profile so you can show off the NFTs you own in a hex-shaped profile picture on your Twitter account. Setting up an NFT profile picture means people can associate your Twitter account with your connected wallet’s public crypto wallet address. This means your Twitter account will be associated with your current and historical crypto wallet transactions and holdings, including all other NFTs in that wallet, because this information is all available on the public blockchain," Twitter Blue Labs wrote on a Twitter Help page.
Currently, Twitter Blue subscribers can only set an NFT as their profile picture from Twitter for iOS app, but the hexa-shaped profile picture is seen across all platforms.
Twitter Blue is a paid service and it has features that will let Twitter users undo tweets, read news pieces without advertisements and also allow them to try out some features early. Twitter Blue subscription went live in the US and New Zealand earlier in November and is available for $2.99 per month. The paid subscription aims to enhance the premium subscribers experience by offering better features and services.
The subscription service is also aimed to add enhanced and complementary features to the already existing Twitter experience for those who opt for it. Apart from the US and New Zealand, Twitter Blue is also available in Canada and Australia. In these regions, Twitter Blue is available for in-app purchase on Twitter for iOS and Android devices, or on twitter.com through the company's payment partner Stripe.
