Instagram has been exploring artificial intelligence (AI) functionalities since the launch of Meta AI by its parent company. A recent leak suggests that the social media platform is in the process of developing an AI message-writing feature. This feature is expected to enable users to revise, rephrase, and make stylistic alterations to their written messages within Instagram direct messages (DM). Simultaneously, Meta's latest social media platform, Threads, is undergoing testing for a post-saving feature that allows users to bookmark posts for later viewing.

On Thursday, mobile developer Alessandro Paluzzi disclosed details about this feature on X (previously known as Twitter). He shared a screenshot revealing selected typed text in a chat box with the option 'Write With AI'. In response to a user's inquiry about its functionality, Paluzzi stated, "It will probably paraphrase your message in different styles, similar to how Google's Magic Compose works."

Notably, Instagram's AI can already generate content through a distinct process. Users are required to type "@Meta AI" followed by the message in any chat, and the AI will generate a response. The message will be visible to others in the chat. The company emphasises that the AI can solely read the tagged message, ensuring the privacy of the remaining texts. Additionally, if not tagged, the AI won't be able to respond to any subsequent queries. Currently, Meta AI, responsible for powering Instagram's AI features, is exclusively accessible in the United States.

Save Feature On Threads

In a distinct development, Threads is undergoing testing for a new feature. Soon, users will have the ability to save their preferred posts by selecting the "Save" option. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram who also oversees Threads, mentioned in a post that this feature will function similarly to the Bookmark feature on Instagram. While there is no specified date for the release of this feature, it is anticipated to be available to both beta testers and regular users in the near future.
