In response to a recent social media post alleging Google's involvement in influencing US elections, tech billionaire Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, said on Tuesday that both Google and Meta's platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, exhibit significant political bias. A user named Steven Mackey, who posted on Musk-owned X, formerly Twitter, sharing reports alleging Alphabet-owned Google's involvement in meddling with the US elections, the media has reported.
"Google and Facebook/Instagram have a strong political bias. Hard to say if they were the deciding factor in any given election, but they certainly put their thumb on the scale.
"That video of Google execs holding an all-hands struggle session after Trump won was disturbing," Musk posted on X, quoted Mackey's post.
Meanwhile, in reaction to a post displaying screenshots of Gemini's reaction to "misgendering" Caitlyn Jenner, the tech billionaire expressed astonishment, stating: "The response from Google's AI is utterly bewildering! While they may attempt to make it less overt in the future, the inherent bias will remain."

Musk additionally stated that, in his view, the most effective method for ensuring AI safety, and the only viable strategy, "is to prioritise maximum truth-seeking."
Earlier last week, Musk had filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, alleging a breach of contract. Musk claimed that OpenAI prioritised profit and commercial interests in the development of artificial intelligence (AI), diverging from their commitment to serving the public good.
Filed late on Thursday in San Francisco, the lawsuit places the billionaire in conflict with the startup he co-founded and now represents as the leading figure in generative AI. This dispute arises in part due to the substantial funding from Microsoft, says a report by news agency Reuters.
