Twitter May Soon Extend Its 280 Character Limit, May Roll Out New Features

Twitter limited the original tweet length to 140 characters, which was later increased to 280. The company is now considering to increase it further. Also more features can be rolled out.

New Delhi: Twitter users will soon get an update in which the limit of 280-characters can be increased further. The company said it was focusing on going beyond 280 characters.

We want to enable everyone on Twitter to share their thoughts as per their comfort. Whether through a tweet or through using their real voice in a live chat, the micro-blogging site said. 

According to the company's product lead Esther Crawford, the space format will encourage users to join the chat in a new way. He said that the end of the live stream could allow people to run space audio. Twitter is also considering increasing the reach of its super followers. Twitter is about to roll out Heads-Up, which is currently in the testing phase. 

Option to block Spaces

According to some media reports, four other new features will be added to Twitter soon. With the advent of these new features, users will be able to set new rules for their Spaces. The Twitter Users will also get the option to Block Spaces. This means that the Twitter users will have the facility to block live conversations of a specific group of people. This feature is currently in the testing phase.

Option of Replay

The report also revealed that the option of Replay will also be given to the users for Spaces. Currently, users can join the Spaces only after the conversation is live and after the conversation is over, users cannot listen to it again.
