We are in a young world of foldable smartphones and Samsung is pretty much dominating the space as it is the only smartphone OEM that is taking foldable seriously and has also recently launched the fourth generation of foldable phones. Out of the two foldables launched, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is the more exciting one and the more powerful one. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 were launched along with the Galaxy Buds Pro 2 and two models in the Galaxy Watch 5 series at Samsung's annual Galaxy Unpacked event.

Look at the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and it may seem that not much has changed since the Galaxy Z Fold 4, but hold it closer and you'd see an overall lighter and slightly slimmer foldable phone. We, at ABP Live, bring you the top five things in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 that have changed since the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Prominent keys and durable build

As mentioned, taking one glance a the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 won't reveal surprises over the previous-gen Galaxy Z Fold 3, but focus a little and you'd see a better and more durable body, prominent volume and power keys as well as more angled edges. talking of durability, Samsung says it has used Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the rear glass and cover screen for protection along with an Armour aluminium frame and hinge. The latest Galaxy Z series devices are the toughest foldables ever made, Samsung also claims.

Same battery as Galaxy Z Fold 3, but faster charging

The newly-launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with the same 4400mAh battery that we also saw the Galaxy Z Fold 3 come with. However, there has been an upgrade in charging speeds: the new model comes with support for faster 25W wired charging, which is claimed to reach full battery from 0 in 1.5 hours. Samsung has also onboarded wireless charging and reverse wireless charging on the Fold 4.

Big camera upgrade

Even though the camera array of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 looks very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, Samsung has made a big upgrade in the camera specs and now, the rear camera setup has the same loadout as the Samsung Galaxy S22. The Z Fold 4 camera setup is led by 50MP coupled with 12MP+10MP sensors whereas the Fold 3 came with a 12MP+12MP+12MP camera setup.

Say hi to the new Taskbar

Samsung has added a new Taskbar that is dedicated for multitasking on big screens such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The Fold 4 is the first device to come with Android 12L and the new Taskbar which remains open with favourite apps pinned, quite similar to what we have seen on Windows PCs. Samsung is likely to expand this useful feature to other Fold models via a future One UI update.

Latest top-tier processor without heating woes

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Galaxy Z Flip 4 both feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and also bring good news: during our initial time spent with the Galaxy Z Fold 4, we did not notice any heating issues, unlike some flagships that come with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 that was launched with a Snapdragon 888 chipset. Initial impressions of battery life also looks impressive for a big device that the Fold 4 is.
