Apple is reportedly gearing up to release more expensive iPhone models next year, including the rumored iPhone 17 Air. This new model is expected to bring a sleek, slim design, which has become less common in the company’s recent phone lineup. However, despite its slim profile, the iPhone 17 Air might come with fewer features and a higher price tag.

According to recent reports, the iPhone 17 Air will feature only a single camera on both the front and back, a notable downgrade from the multi-camera systems seen on most modern iPhones. The phone’s standout feature is anticipated to be its lightweight aluminum design. Another significant change could be the discontinuation of the iPhone Plus series, with the Slim model possibly taking its place. The Slim is rumored to have a 6.6-inch display, making it similar in size to the Pro Max series.

While the iPhone 17 Air may appeal to those seeking a thinner phone, it’s clear that consumers will be paying more for a device with fewer advanced features.

iPhone 17 Air: What Do We Know

Industry analysts have started to share their predictions for the 2025 iPhone lineup, suggesting that the iPhone 17 Slim (or Air) could bring more processing power than the iPhone 16 Plus but with less advanced camera technology than the iPhone Pro models. According to a note from well-known analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 17 Slim/Air is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display and be powered by the A19 chipset, which will offer performance close to the A18 Pro. The phone will also have an aluminum frame, giving it a lightweight feel.

However, Apple enthusiasts might be disappointed with the camera. The report indicates that the iPhone 17 Slim/Air could come with just a single 48MP rear camera, a throwback to the simpler camera setups from the days of the iPhone 8 series.

In terms of other specs, the device is rumored to include 8GB of RAM to support Apple's advanced AI features. There is also speculation that Apple may discontinue the iPhone Plus line in favor of the Slim model. Though the iPhone 17 launch is still some time away, these early details suggest that pricing will be a key factor in determining the success of the Slim model. As always, Apple may make further adjustments before the final release.
