New Delhi: With Apple slated to release the upcoming iPhone 14 series this fall, the tech giant is also likely to launch the second-gen AirPods Pro alongside. The AirPods Pro have not seen a new iteration since their launch in 2019 and Apple could bring a new model this fall, says Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. According to multiple rumours, a new model is likely to make its way into the market this year.

The upcoming AirPods Pro‌ could feature a more compact design that sees away with the stem, coupled with a new charging case and lossless audio support over a new protocol.

Gurman's claims line up with famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that said that second-gen AirPods Pro would be unveiled in the second half (H2) of 2022. Earlier last month, Kuo had made the announcement via a tweet: "AirPods 3 orders for 2-3Q22 have been cut by 30%+. Due to the failed product segmentation strategy, demand for AirPods 3 is significantly weaker than for AirPods 2. AirPods Pro may get discontinued after Apple launches AirPods Pro 2 in 2H22 to avoid repeating the same mistake."

However, in terms of Apple AirPods Max, the tech giant is not reportedly working on a second-generation model of the headphones that did not see a refresh since December 2020.

According to Kuo's previous claims, the upcoming AirPods Pro's charging case would be capable of emitting a sound to help users find it when misplaced. The charging case may also come with water resistance like the third-generation AirPods charging case.
