New Delhi: Social media giant Facebook released its second compliance report following the new IT rules in India. According to the latest compliance report, Facebook has taken action on more than 33.3 million content across 10 categories of violations in India between June 16 and July 31.
Facebook's photo-sharing platform, Instagram, took action on 2.8 million content across 9 categories during the same period.
The company said between June 16 and July 31, it had received complaints from 1,504 users on Facebook and 265 users on Instagram, and it had responded to all of them.
3 Million WhatsApp Account Suspended
The report reveals that in a period of 46 days, Facebook suspended about 3 million WhatsApp accounts. In the compliance report, it is mentioned that it received 594 complaints during the period, on which the company has taken action. Most of these accounts have been suspended due to automatic or bulk messaging.
Users' Safety
A Facebook spokesperson said that over the years, the company has consistently invested in technology, people and processes to keep users safe online and enable them to share their grievances freely on its platform. The spokesperson added that the compliance report contains details of the content that have been removed proactively using automated tools, and details of user complaints received and the actions taken.
46 Day Compliance Report
Facebook said it uses artificial intelligence, reports from its community and review by its teams to identify and review content that violates its policies. In accordance with the IT Rules, the company has published its second compliance report for the period of 46 days – 16 June to 31 July.
