OpenAI has unveiled a new feature for its AI chatbot ChatGPT on Android smartphones. A new home screen widget has been introduced recently which marks the latest advancement in OpenAI's efforts to enhance user experience despite fierce competition from other AI chatbots like Google Gemini. Android Central contributor disclosed this widget in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter). This new feature expands ChatGPT's accessibility by providing Android users with quick access right from their home screens.

This new widget offers a number of options including shortcuts for text, voice, and video queries. It streamlines interaction with the AI chatbot.

The widget facilitates the initiation of conversation mode, enabling seamless interaction with ChatGPT without having to close/go away from the home screen. The widget, rolled out in app version 1.2024.052, is poised to revolutionise user engagement with the platform.

Notably, it remains inaccessible in the current version, 1.2024.045, which is available on the Google Play store. Due to this discrepancy, it appears that the widget might still be in the beta phase and has not yet been released for everyone.

OpenAI's Another Breakthrough — Sora

Recently, OpenAI has made another breakthrough in generative artificial intelligence. ChatGPT maker unveiled a new tool a week ago which can instantly make short videos in response to written commands. This new text-to-video generator from the house of Microsoft-backed OpenAI is called Sora. Other tech giants such as Google and Meta have also demonstrated similar technology in the past but it appears that OpenAI has gone way ahead in terms of quality.

After the announcement about Sora software, a renowned YouTuber, Jimmy Donaldson aka MrBeast, told OpenAI CEO Sam Altman “Sam please don’t make me homeless." Altman responded by saying, “Will generate you a video, what would you like?" The user said, “Hmmm, a monkey playing chess in a park."

Immediately, the CEO of OpenAI shared a high-quality video by Sora on the X platform.
