Chennai: Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan inaugurated a photo exhibition marking the grand celebration of Chief Minister MK Stalin's 70th birthday on Wednesday. During the inauguration, Kamal also answered questions from reporters about the possible alliance between MNM and DMK in the Parliamentary Election 2024.
On Tuesday, Kamal Haasan after inaugurating the photo exhibition said, “MK Stalin and I are friends. It is beyond politics. Son of a great leader, CM is the one who has reached this position gradually by accepting the challenge. This is no time to talk politics.”
“Can't say about the alliance now, we have to move scene by scene and not go to climax now. Scene by scene should carry the story,” he said.
However, the invite to Kamal Haasan for the inauguration of the photo exhibition hinted alliance between both parties in parliamentary elections. It can also be noted that Kamal extended his support to DMK's alliance candidate EVKS Elangovan in Erode Bypolls 2023.
When asked if Kamal Haasan is inching toward DMK's grand alliance, Dayanidhi Maran said, “Kamal Haasan a like-minded person. He has been a good friend of DMK, of Dr Kalaignar and MK Stalin. It's his (MK Stalin) 70th b'day and he has come to pay his respects. That's what we do in Tamil Nadu.”
“In 2019, DMK ensured that in Chennai a grand alliance is formed. In 2021, the DMK's grand alliance swept Tamil Nadu elections. Our leader has assured that in the 2024 elections, all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will be won by the DMK alliance,” he said.
