Villupuram: In these tough times, everyone would want to look after their safety but that’s not what doctors at Villupuram Government Siddha Hospital are doing. They are going the extra mile to treat Covid patients and interestingly they have cured 493 Covid patients without a single death reported.
This hospital has been established for treating corona patients near the Villupuram district. Corona is being treated under the leadership of Siddha Doctor Veerababu in the Saligramam area of Chennai. Similarly, various organisations had demanded that Siddha doctors should be allowed to be treated in all government hospitals across Tamil Nadu along with English medical treatment.

The Government has subsequently permitted Siddha treatment. At present, 94 people are getting treatment there. Moreover, people suffering from breathlessness have also completely recovered. This hospital comforts those who are looking for Siddha treatment. People who are suspicious of being infected by Covid-19 are admitted to the hospital as soon as the infection is confirmed. The treatment lasts for a maximum of seven days.
When asked about the efficiency of Siddha treatment provided in the hospital, Dr. Prabhu said that all those who are admitted first are given a neem leaf tablet, thalisadi, suranam, etc. Patients with low oxygen levels are given drinking water with clove immersed and that settles the oxygen level within 10 to 30 minutes. A herbal concoction — Kabasura Kudineer — is provided alongside lukewarm water and five other types of herbal drinking water. Besides giving herbs for treatment, they also give Yoga training.
District Siddha Medical Consultant Dr Mala says that the hospital employs three doctors Prabhu, Subhashini and Ponnam on a rotational basis and each doctor has two assistants with a nurse. 150 beds are currently on standby and 94 people are being treated to date and there is a large number of in-patients.
