Thousands of fans and supporters of Vijayakanth, actor-turned-politician and DMDK founder, have gathered at Island Grounds in Chennai to pay their last respects on Friday. Several politicians cutting across party lines and actors also gathered at the ground to bid farewell to the former Tamil Nadu Opposition leader and former South Indian Artistes' Association president. Vijayakanth passed away due to pneumonia on December 28 (Thursday). He was 71 years old.












According to ANI, Supporters gathered to pay tribute to DMDK chief and Actor Captain Vijayakanth at Island ground, Anna Salai.

Actor Rajinikanth cancelled his shooting to pay respect to Vijayakanth. On the demise of DMDK chief Vijayakanth, Actor Rajinikanth said, "We will never get a person as good as Vijayakanth. In politics and cinema, there is no one like him. This loss is irreplaceable."














Following the demise of the DMDK founder at a private hospital in Chennai, the mortal remains of Vijayakanth were taken to his residence. Subsequently, the remains were then taken to the DMDK party office in Koyambedu, where they were placed for public homage. Numerous leaders, including AIADMK chief Edappadi Palaniswami, DMK Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, and MP Thol Thirumavalavan, paid their respects at the party office. On Thursday, actors such as Vijay, Vijayakumar, Mansoor Ali Khan, and director Mari Selvaraj also paid their tributes.


On Friday morning, Vijayakanth's remains were taken to Island Grounds in Chennai. At 1 PM, a procession will carry the mortal remains back to the party office, where the final rites are scheduled to take place starting at 4.45 PM. The DMDK supremo will then be laid to rest within the confines of the party office.
