3 Boys Cycling To School Die As Speeding SUV Hits Them Near Vaniyambadi In Tamil Nadu

Vaniyambadi Accident: When cattle crossed his path, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, rammed it into a barricade on the opposite side of the highway and mowed down the three students.

Chennai: Three school students riding two bicycles were mowed down by a speeding car at Valayampattu village near Vaniyambadi in Tirupattur district on Tuesday. The police immediately nabbed the driver of the vehicle and are currently investigating the accused.

According to a report on The Hindu, the students of Government High School in Girisamudiram village near Vaniyambadi were riding their bicycles to school at 9 am on Tuesday. While the students were crossing a service road on Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway, the speeding car knocked them down. 

The deceased were identified as Rafiq, Vijay and Surya, all residents of Melavalampettai village near Vaniyambadi.

Based on the information, the police arrived at the spot and started the investigation. The police told The Hindu, V Santhosh, an SUV driver of Viruthampattu village near Katpadi, was driving towards Yelagiri Hills with four passengers. 

The accused reportedly told the police that cattle crossed his path while driving and he suddenly lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the vehicle veered into the opposite side of the lane and hit the students resulting in their death.

The car had a Karnataka registration, the police said. 

All the villagers immediately rushed to the spot to help the victims.

The bodies of the victim were recovered and sent to Government Taluk Hospital in Vaniyambadi for post-mortem. 

Tirupattur Collector D. Bhaskara Pandian visited the spot and conducted an inspection.

Meanwhile, the public reportedly staged a protest demanding to construct a bridge on the lane to avoid such accidents. Later, the police conducted talks with the protestors and assured them to construct a bridge. Based on the words of the police, the protesters dispersed from the spot, said a report on ABP Nadu.
