Chennai: DGP Sylendra Babu on Friday apologized to a woman who tweeted about the alleged rude behaviour of a cop on social media and also gave complaint against the police personnel. Following the apology, the DGP also ordered an inquiry into the issue that took place on Thursday.
In a tweet, a woman named Madhumita Baidya said, "Dear @tnpoliceoffl yesterday we faced very inappropriate behaviour from the on-duty police officer in Seashell avenue ECR Beach. After office hour my friend and I were sitting there with all decency. We were not aware of the timing of the beach(sic)."
“A police officer came with full aggression and started to misbehave like I’m a terrorist or criminal. The most disrespectful thing he told is ‘Go and roam in North India after 10 o’clock’,” she said.

"The cop also asked me. 'Speak Tamil language?' and while I was replying to him back he threatened that he would take me in his vehicle and file a case against me," she said adding, "Literally why? There was no notice displayed about the timing for sitting in the beach. Please train cops to behave nicely at least. I'm not a criminal."
