Chennai: Tamil Nadu government imposes new Covid-19 restrictions to curb the spread of coronavirus infection on Wednesday. The state has imposed night curfew, Sunday lockdown and cancelled physical classes for standard 1-9 students. On Tuesday, the state has recorded 2,731 cases, which is an increase of over 58 per cent compared to the previous day.


Here is a list of fresh curbs state imposed on Wednesday: 


> Night curfew imposed between 10 pm-5 am from Thursday. No shops, eateries or business establishments can function during this time


> Government and private buses to function during the night curfew 


> Essential services including milk, medical assistance, newspaper and ATMs are permitted to function during the curfew 


> Petrol, diesel bunks can function for 24 hours 


> IT workers are requested to work from home. The remaining manufacturing and other company employees can commute using ID card 


> Complete lockdown announced on Sundays. ATMs, Milk depots, medical shops and petrol bunks are permitted to function during this period 


> Public transportation and metro rail will not function during Sunday lockdown


> Restaurants can function from 7 am to 10 pm. Delivery executives can work only between the said period 


> People commuting to railway station and airport will be permitted and they are requested to carry the ticket


Other restriction 


> No physcial classes for Class 1-9 students


> Creche, play shools, kindergartens are banned from functioning 


> Classes can be held only for Standard 10-12 students to prepare for board 


> All Colleges expect for exams are instructed to remain closed till January 20 


> Training and coaching centers to remain shut 


> Bookfair and trade fair are banned 


> Buses, metro rail can function only with 50% capacity 


> Public not to be allowed on beaches except for morning walks 


> Public not to be allowed to religious places on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 


> Markets should be held at multiple places to avoid people congregation
