Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced Rs 2 lakh solatium to the kin of the three kids who lost their lives after consuming food at a private destitute home in Tirupur district on Thursday. The three kids died due to suspected food poisoning after consuming dinner at the private home. Eleven other children who also suffered from vomiting are receiving treatment at Tirupur Government Hospital.


A release from CMO’s office said, “TN CM Stalin has announced an ex-gratia to the families of the children who died in the private orphanage in Tirupur district.”

In the release, Stalin expressed condolences to the kin of the deceased members. The CM then announced Rs 2 lakh solatium from CM's relief fund to the family of the deceased children. 


On Thursday, three children identified as Madhesh (15), Babu (13) and Aatheesh (8) died after consuming food at the private home in Tirupur district.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Minister P Geetha Jeevan and Information and Publicity Minister MP Saminathan visited the hospital and enquired about the children's health condition.

Later, addressing the press, the Ministers said that the private home, Sri Vivekananda Sevalayam, was in a very bad condition and the home will be closed immediately. They also blamed the officials for their negligence. 

Minister Geetha Jeevan said the state will take the custody of the other occupants in the orphanage. She also said that it was wrong to bring food from outside and serve it to the inmates at the home.
