Chennai: After witnessing a massive victory for a debutant fan club in elections, Tamil actor Vijay's fan club, Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, members are set to contest as independent candidates in Tamil Nadu urban local body polls. The contest comes amid the speculation of the star's political plunge.
According to a report on Deccan Herald, the fans are awaiting a nod like last time from the actor to use his name and the flag for the campaign.

Several fans have expressed their interest to contest in the elections and the same 2021 model of contesting as independents would follow, said Bussy Anand, General Secretary of TVMI.
Once the actor gives a nod we will start using the images and campaign, he said adding, the public voted for him before and they'll once again vote for him now.
Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam's 169 members contested in the rural local body elections and of the total contested seats, they bagged 129 seats. The victory of TVMI was more than Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam and Seeman's Naam Tamilar Katchi, both of the leaders who plunged into politics after working in the film industry.
