Chennai: The Kerala High Court on Thursday adjourned the anticipatory bail plea moved by Malayalam film actor Dileep and four others till February 2 in connection with the alleged conspiracy to kill the police officers who probed the infamous sexual assault case of an actress in 2017. 


According to a report on PTI, Judge Gopinath who heard the bail petition extended the validity of the interim order preventing the arrest of the actor and others till February 2. The Court then adjourned the case in consideration with the prosecution who sought time to analyze digital evidence linked with the case. 


Last Saturday, the court gave interim protection from arrest to Dileep.

The case pertains to the sexual assault of an actress who has worked in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries. The incident took place on the night of February 17, 2017 while the survivour was returning home. The actress was abducted and molested in a car for two hours by the accused and they also filmed the act. Later, they dropped her in a busy area and fled the place. 


Till now, the police have arrested seven of the 10 accused. Actor Dileep was also arrested and lodged in a prison in 2017. Later, he was released on bail after two months in jail. 


However, on January 9, the Crime Branch registered another case based complaint of an investigating officer with regards to a purported audio of Dileep speaking to Balachandra Kumar, his friend with whom he recently fell out, of allegedly conspiring an attack against the officers who were responsible for his arrest.
