Chennai: The Coimbatore city police on Saturday booked a teacher of a private school, for beating a Class 11 student until it left him with bruises, for altering his uniform last week. The school management also suspended the teacher for his rude action. 


According to a report on The Times of India, Sivaranjith Kumar of Annur, who was residing in KRG Nagar in Ganapathy, was working as a physics teacher at a private matriculation higher secondary school in Ganapathy for the last few years.


However, recently the school authorities reportedly provided uniforms for students and the victim had allegedly altered the uniform since the one given by the school did not fit him properly. Following this, the teacher got to know about the alteration on Thursday and allegedly hit the student on his hands and back leaving him with blood clots and bruises.

With the injury, the Class 11 student returned home and he was rushed to the hospital by his parents. 


The parents also lodged a complaint with the Saravanampatti police, who registered a case against him under sections of Indian Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt. The police have also decided to conduct an inquiry in the matter on Monday. 


Meanwhile, AIADMK Coordinator O Panneerselvam and PMK Founder Ramadoss took to social media to condemn the issue. 


O Panneerselvam said that the incident has left him in shock and he demanded a proper investigation into it.
