Chennai: Two days after the demise of a NEET aspirant Dhanush in Salem, Tamil Nadu witnessed the death of a 17-year-old NEET aspirant from Ariyalur district, who ended her life allegedly fearing failure in NEET on Monday night. According to a report in The News Minute, Kanimozhi was the daughter of advocates Karunanidhi and Vijayalakshmi, both of the Backward Caste community.
On Sunday, Kanimozhi attended NEET at her exam centre. However, she was not satisfied with her performance and became depressed. She allegedly told her parents that she did not give a good performance and may not clear the exam. Yet her parents consoled her and left for a function in a nearby village.
When the parents returned home, they retrieved the lifeless body of Kanimozhi, who by then had taken the extreme decision, on Monday evening.

The death of Kanimozhi has also come on the same day as the Tamil Nadu government tabled a Bill to scrap NEET for UG medical admissions in the state and demanded to continue admissions based on Class 12 marks.
Kanimozhi took 562 marks out of 600 in Class 12, said a report from ABP Nadu. The police have registered a case and sent the body for post-mortem to Jayankondam Government Hospital. Till now, no sucide note was recovered.
The death of Kanimozhi from Ariyalur also comes after the death of Anitha also from Ariyalur who challenged NEET in the Supreme Court in 2017.
Kanimozhi is the second person to take the extreme decision due to NEET this year. Like Kanimozhi, a few hours before the scheduled NEET on Sunday, Dhanush from Koozhiyoor in Salem district took his life due to the fear of attending the exam. He was supposed to take a third attempt in the exam.
