The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side will be jotting a blue coloured jersey in their match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 20th September 2021. It will be the first match of RCB's Indian Premier League Phase-2 campaign.

The decision to wear blue jerseys has been taken to honour the contribution of the Covid-19 frontline workers who have risked their lives and worked tirelessly during the pandemic. RCB gave this information on social media.

"RCB to wear Blue Jersey v KKR on 20th. We at RCB are honoured to sport the Blue kit, which resembles the colour of the PPE kits of the frontline warriors, to pay tribute to their invaluable service while leading the fight against the Covid pandemic," RCB said in a tweet.

Royal Challengers Bangalore recently appointed Mike Hesson as the coach of the team after Simon Katich's withdrawal. Players like Glenn Maxwell and AB De Villiers have already reached the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for training ahead of the restart of IPL 2021.

While Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj have reached UAE via a chartered plane from Manchester.

The IPL is set to begin from 19 September 2021 and Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings will be the first match played after the gap.
