A man married his lover just before the funeral of his father to fulfill the latter's last wish near Kallakurichi in Tamil Nadu. The deceased as his last wish reportedly wanted to see the marriage of his son.

According to The New Indian Express, V Rajendran (55) from Peruvangur, a social worker and DMK member, was suffering from various health issues and his health condition worsened after he fell in the bathroom recently.

Amid ailing health, Rajendran as his last wish requested his son R Praveen, an employee of a private firm in Chennai, to arrange for his marriage with his lover S Sournamaaliya. Praveen arranged for the wedding in Kallakurichi on March 27.

However, Rajendran’s health condition worsened and he died on Sunday.

Praveen still decided to fulfill his father's last wish. He made arrangements to get married in the presence of his father’s body, before the last rites.

PPS Elayaraja, a relative of Rajendran, said that Praveen spoke to the family members of Sournamaaliya who came to attend the funeral of Rajendran. He then convinced them and started the wedding arrangements.

Just before the funeral, Praveen got married in Buddhist rituals as per Rajendran's wish.

Later, the last rites were performed and Rajendran's body was laid to rest.
