Tamil Nadu Corona Lockdown: As the country is facing a new surge with several states officially stating the emergence of the third wave of coronavirus, restrictions are being imposed by the administrations to curb the spread of the virus. In wake of the rising number of coronavirus cases in Tamil Nadu, the state government has announced a complete lockdown for one day on Sunday. Every Sunday, colleges, offices, markets, malls, spas, and gyms will remain closed. However, essential services are allowed to operate. 


The Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin had announced a night curfew on January 5 starting the next day. The night curfew is in place from 10 PM to 5 AM. The services which are allowed to operate during the Sunday lockdown are medical stores, milk distribution, newspaper, petrol pump, ATM, and goods transportation. While all e-commerce services are restricted during this time, restaurants can offer food deliveries and takeaways from 7 AM to 10 PM.


During the night curfew and Sunday lockdown, people will have to show valid travel tickets to reach airports, railway stations, and bus stations. Schools have been closed for classes 1 to 9. Besides, creche, kindergarten classes, and playschools are also completely closed.


Coronavirus Situation In Tamil Nadu


Tamil Nadu saw a hike of 10,978 fresh covid-19 cases taking the total tally to 27,87,391. 10 new deaths took the death toll to 36,843. In the last 24 hours, 1,525 people have been recovered from the infection. So far, 27,10,288 people have recovered. The total active cases in the state are 40,260 currently.
