Tamil Nadu: English Teacher Arrested For Sexually Harassing Female Student During Written Exam
The police booked a case under charges of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested Murugesan.
Chennai: An English teacher at a government school in Srirangam was arrested by the police for sexually harassing a Class 12 girl while she was writing an exam. The female student initially did not realize the inappropriate behaviour, but was shocked to find out about it upon reaching home.
According to a report on India Today, the accused identified as Murugesan was working as an English teacher in Hajyar Muhammed Yusuf government school in Inam Kalathur in Srirangam. Recently, the teacher went as an invigilator while the students were attending their revision tests.
Similarly, while he went to invigilate during an exam this week, he reportedly behaved inappropriately to a girl student who was taking up the test.
The student who was writing the exam did not realize about it at first. However, she returned home and was petrified to know about the harassment. She immediately informed her parents about the incident.

Soon her parents with 500 villagers gathered in front of the school and demanded the arrest of the teacher.
Following the incident, the district authorities reached the spot and conducted an enquiry. They also informed the police and received a written complaint from the parents.
Later, Inam Kalathur police conducted an inquiry with the student and her classmates.

In the past few months, many cases of sexual harassment are reported from school campuses.
