Tamil Nadu BSP Chief Killed: The Madras High Court on Sunday rejected a writ petition seeking permission to bury the body of slain Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Tamil Nadu state president, K Armstrong, at the party's office premises in Chennai. His cremation is scheduled to take place on private land in Pothur Village, Thiruvallur District, news agency ANI reported.

On Sunday, Justice V Bhavani Subbarayan of the Madras High Court heard the plea filed by K Porkodi, Armstrong’s wife, who requested court approval for the burial at the party office, ANI's report stated. K Armstrong was brutally murdered by a group of unidentified assailants near his residence in Chennai on Friday evening.

Justice Subbarayan noted that the proposed burial site was situated in a passage and inquired whether an alternative location was available, given that the party office is in a residential area. The petitioner’s counsel requested time until 1 p.m. to identify an alternative site. However, as they failed to do so, the hearing was rescheduled for 2:15 p.m.

The petition faced opposition from the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government, which argued against the proposed burial site in a residential area. The mortal remains of K Armstrong have been placed at Corporation School Ground in Chennai, allowing the public to pay their last respects, as per the report.

BSP Chief Mayawati Urges CBI Probe Into K Armstrong’s Murder

Party supremo Mayawati, alongside national coordinator Akash Anand, paid floral tributes to the departed leader earlier today. Mayawati called for the case to be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), stating, “I urge the state government, especially the Chief Minister, to ensure law and order in the state. The weaker sections, in particular, should feel safe. Had the government been serious, the accused would have been arrested. Since that is not the case, we urge the state government to refer the case to the CBI.” ALSO READ | Armstrong's Murder: Mayawati Slams TN Govt, Calls For CBI Probe
