After a multi-storey building collapsed in Jharkhand's Deoghar district on Sunday morning, several persons were feared trapped. The incident occurred around 6 AM, and reportedly four people have been rescued from the debris so far.


To carry out the rescue operation, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed to the area. The NDRF team led by Inspector Randhir Kumar said that efforts are underway to rescue the trapped persons.






While speaking to PTI, Deoghar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ritvik Srivastava said that four people were rescued and they were admitted to Deoghar Sadar Hospital.


“Few more seem to be still trapped under the debris. The rescue operation is underway," Srivastava said,


Deputy Commission of Deoghar, Vishal Sagar wrote on X, and along with the NDRF and Health Department team have been deployed to the scene, along with magistrates, ambulance teams, fire brigades, and police.


He wrote in Hindi, “Taking cognizance of the incident of collapse of the building near Sita Hotel under the Municipal Corporation area, the NDRF and Health Department team have been deputed to the spot. Along with this, a rapid rescue operation is being carried out by magistrates, ambulance team, fire brigade, and police.”






While speaking to ANI Sagar said, that preliminary information revealed some construction work was ongoing.


“It is possible that the house was not that strong, due to which the house collapsed. This matter will be investigated, but right now our primary concern is to save people and their lives."
