Tamil Nadu: Bride Calls Off Wedding After Groom Allegedly Slaps Her For Dancing With Cousin

The bride's family alleged that the groom slapped the bride backstage in front of her guests.

Chennai: A couple was all ready to get married within the next 12 hours until a dance went awry in Cuddalore. The bride broke up with the groom after he allegedly slapped her backstage for dancing with her cousin. 

The bride who go 'humiliated' called off the wedding but married another groom on the same date and fixed time in a venue 7 kilometers away from the reception hall.

According to a report in Times of India, the groom has now demanded Rs 7 lakh spent for the wedding arrangement and gave a complaint to Panruti All-women police station. 

The police said, the groom who is a senior engineer of a private firm in Chennai and the bride got engaged on November 6 in Panruti. They decided to hold a reception on January 19 and the wedding the next day in their village.

They arranged for a music fest for the reception and all of them were dancing. During a song, one of the cousins of the bride allegedly joined the couple for a dance and he then placed the arms around the shoulders of the couple. 

By this, the groom got irked and pushed him away. The bride's family then alleged that he slapped the bride backstage in front of her guests. As a result, the bride was humiliated by this and reportedly called off the wedding. 

However, the groom alleged that she questioned the bride backstage on why she danced with others for which she replied it was her decision to dance. But her parents and relatives who were nearby started to accuse and threaten for questioning the bride even before the marriage and called off the wedding, he said.
