In a significant development, Tamil Nadu Assembly passed a resolution on Wednesday to suspend Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami and other AIADMK MLAs for the entire session. This decision follows a directive from Tamil Nadu Speaker M. Appavu, who earlier ordered the eviction of AIADMK members from the House due to disruptions.

Opposition party members, dressed in black shirts after a one-day suspension on Tuesday, attempted to raise the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy again in the Assembly and sought an adjournment to discuss the issue.

The AIADMK MLAs had demanded the adjournment of the Question and Answer session and raised slogans concerning the recent Kallakurichi hooch tragedy. Their actions led to a tumultuous scene in the Assembly, prompting Speaker Appavu to take stringent measures to restore order.

“The AIADMK whip gave notice to raise the issue. But they were not prepared to listen to my reply. Instead, they disrupted the proceedings (during Question Hour) and denigrated the decorum of the House through their conduct,” Appavu said, as per PTI.
