IAS officer Shiv Das Meena took over as the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu on Friday. The IAS officer will succeed V Iraianbu. Chennai Commissioner Shankar Jiwal took oath as Director General of Police/Head of Police Force Tamil Nadu and DCP Training Sandeep Rai Rathore took over the new Commissioner of Chennai Police. 


Shankar Jiwal was succeeding Sylendra Babu who retired from service on Friday. 


Talking to reporters, Sandeep Rai Rathore, as per ABP Nadu, said, "I will continue the good work of Police Commissioners who worked before me. I request the people of Chennai to give full support for this work."


He expressed his gratitude to CM Stalin and Tamil Nadu government. 


On Thursday, the former Chief Secretary to Government Irai Anbu said, "Thiru Shiv Das Meena, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department is transferred and posted as Chief Secretary to Government vice Dr. V. Irai Anbu, IAS, retiring from service on 30.6.2023 After Noon."


Shiv Das Meena from Rajasthan reportedly has a good rapport in New Delhi. This, according to sources in DMK, was one of the reasons for considering him as the new Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, as per IANS. He is a civil engineering graduate from Rajasthan University and started his career as assistant collector in Kancheepuram in 1990. He then became the Collector of Nagapattinam in 2001.




Meanwhile, Sandeep Rai Rathore is the recipient of President Police Medal for Distinguished Services 2015 and President Police Medal for Meritorious Service 2008. He also received United Nations Peacekeeping Medal 2002.

 


 

The outgoing IAS officer Irai Anbu is well known for his commendable work. Irai Anbu was born in a small village in Salem and was a student of agriculture. He completed his bachelor's from Tamil Nadu Agriculture University by emerging as a university topper. He completed higher education in multiple fields including MA (English), MSc (Psychology) and MA (Labour Management). He also has three PhDs to his name in English, Comparative Literature and Business Administration.
