Chandigarh University (CU) has achieved a significant accomplishment by attaining the top position among private universities in India in the latest release of the esteemed Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking. The rankings for QS WUR-2024 involved the evaluation of 2963 institutions. Chandigarh University, known for its consistent success, has secured an impressive overall rank of 771-780, surpassing its previous rank of 801-1001 in the previous edition of the ranking released last year. The university has received an overall score of 15.2 in this year's ranking. In the 20th edition of the QS rankings, a total of 45 Indian universities have made their presence, and Chandigarh University (CU) has achieved an impressive all-India rank of 20 among both public and private institutes. Additionally, the university secured the 233rd spot in the Asia region.
Notably, CU's ascent as the top-ranked private university in India coincided with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay claiming the position of the highest-ranked Indian public institute in this year's QS World University Rankings 2024.
Earlier this year, Chandigarh University also showcased outstanding performance in the QS World University Subject Rankings 2023. The university secured the 1st rank in India in Hospitality Management, 11th rank in Engineering and Technology, Computer Science and Information Systems, 12th rank in Mechanical Engineering, and 16th rank in Business and Management Studies. In the NIRF Rankings 2023, the university secured the 27th position among India's top universities.
Notably, last year, Chandigarh University became the youngest university to be featured in the Top 200 QS Asia University Rankings 2023, marking another significant achievement for the institution.
Chandigarh University has demonstrated remarkable improvement across various parameters in the rankings. Notably, its score in employer reputation has significantly increased from 31.8 in the previous edition to 43.4 in the current edition. Similarly, the university has witnessed an improvement in the international faculty ratio, with a score of 34.1, as well as in the faculty-student ratio, with a score of 21.1, compared to 24.6 and 18.7 respectively in the previous year's rankings.
Moreover, the varsity's score in academic reputation has shown a notable jump from 8.6 to 11.5 in this year's ranking. Additionally, the score for the international student ratio has increased to 15.1, compared to 11.2 in the previous year.
