In a U-turn, AIADMK leader and former Minister Sellur K Raju said that AIADMK does not have any problem in terms of ties with BJP. He said that AIADMK wants PM Modi to be reelected in the Lok Sabha election 2024. The statement of the former minister came just a few hours after TN BJP chief Annamalai said that there was no problem between the two parties, AIADMK and BJP. He said that there was a common thread that linked like-minded parties in NDA and that was PM Modi.

Earlier, AIADMK leader Jayakumar said, BJP is not in alliance with AIADMK and they will decide about the alliance only during the elections.

According to PTI, Sellur Raju said that AIADMK is clear on who should the PM be similarly BJP should also be focused on projecting AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami as CM candidate in the next Assembly election.

However, Raju said that the controversial statements of Annamalai on late AIADMK and Dravidian leaders do not augur well with the party.

Raju said, "We have nothing against BJP leaders like Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and J P Nadda. But we don't relish BJP state president (K Annamalai) insulting our leader C N Annadurai."

Stating that the state leadership should be focused on not creating an issue, Sellur Raju said that AIADMK wants Narendra Modi to become PM again.

"As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the BJP should accept Palaniswami as the chief ministerial candidate," he said.

Earlier, AIADMK leader Jayakumar said, "BJP is not in alliance with AIADMK. We will decide about the alliance during the elections only. This is not my personal view. This is our party's stand. BJP cadres want an alliance with the AIADMK but Annamalai (TN BJP President K Annamalai) doesn't want an alliance. He always criticizes our leaders. He is unfit to be BJP state president."
