Speculations were rife that he would come back to politics which the actor put a full stop on Monday. Days after he came from the US after a medical trip, there were speculations that Rajini was going to make a decision about the future of his political party. Earlier on Monday, he told the reporters here that he would discuss with his Rajini Makkal Mandram functionaries about the party's future and its working. "Also, there are questions if I am going to continue in politics, I will answer to these questions as well," he added.

Rajinikanth's political saga is a 30-year-long quest but in 2017, he had announced that he would contest in 234 constituencies in the assembly elections. However, ahead of the elections in December 2020, he took a U-turn by saying he wouldn't contest in the elections citing health issues that came as a shocker to his fans. But, just when they were recuperating from the past disappointments, he made a final decision on Monday that he will continue to be a silver screen superstar full-time and would be out of politics.
