Chennai: A final year engineering student in Chembarambakkam fell to his death from 8th floor of an apartment while attempting to climb on a pipe to enter his rented apartment through a window. The 21-year-old biotechnology student was a resident of Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, who rented an apartment on the eighth floor of a 18-storey building near Chembarambakkam while his other friend rented the adjacent apartment on the same floor. 


According to a report on The New Indian Express, the deceased S Naveen Kumar was celebrating the birthday of one of his friends along with others in his neighbour’s apartment. However, after the party, Naveen wanted to return home but his apartment keys were with his roommate, who was out making a call. So Naveen decided to enter his apartment through the kitchen window and he climbed on the sunshade of the home.


Then he gained control and tried to step on the pipe at the back of the apartment. However, when he stepped on it, he slipped and fell to the ground from the eighth floor.

Based on the information, the personnel from Nazarathpet police reached the spot and sent the body to a government hospital for postmortem. They also registered a case and started an investigation. 


The report quoting his friends said that they told Naveen to wait till his roommate comes back home but Naveen did not listen and said that he had done it before.


Naveen even in the past climbed the apartment through the pipes but this time he lost balance and fell to the ground reportedly since he was drunk, said police who are investigating the case as per TOI. 


Later, the body was given to the parents of the student.
