Corona cases update: The country has reported a huge decline in Covid cases. India has registered 13,596 new cases in the last 24 hours which is the lowest in 230 days. The active caseload in the country stands at 1,89,694, informed the Union Health Ministry.
The recovery rate is currently at 98.12% which is the highest since March 2020.
19,582 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 3,34,39,331.
Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.56% which is the lowest since March 2020.
Kerala
Kerala registered 7,555 fresh Coronavirus cases and 74 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total affected in the state to 48,45,115 and the toll to 26,865, informed the state health ministry.
State health minister Veena George said 73,157 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and among the districts, Thrissur reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases on Sunday--998, followed by neighbouring Ernakulam with 975 cases and Thiruvananthapuram with 953 cases.
"Currently there are 87,593 active COVID-19 cases in the state out of which only 10 per cent are admitted in the hospitals," the minister said in a release.
Meanwhile, 10,773 people recuperated from the disease on Sunday taking the total cured in the state to 47.39 lakh.
The Minister also said that 93.8 per cent (2,50,78,552) of the targeted population has been vaccinated with the first dose while 45.5 per cent (1,21,69,186)received the second dose too.
Maharashtra
Maharashtra reported 1,715 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, taking the state's infection tally to 65,91,697, while 29 deaths pushed the toll to 1,39,789, the health department said.
A total of 2,680 patients recuperated during the day, which took the recovery count to 64,19,678, it said.
The state's recovery rate is 97.39 per cent and the fatality rate is 2.12 per cent.
With 1,10,465 tests being conducted on Sunday, the overall test figure of the state rose to 6,10,20,463.
There are 28,631 active cases in Maharashtra at present.
Mumbai reports zero death
In a first, India's financial capital Mumbai reported zero Covid-19 deaths on Sunday since the Covid-19 outbreak wrecked havoc in the city around 20 months ago in March 2020. Even as no deaths were reported, the city logged 367 new infections while 518 fully recovered patients went home on Sunday, according to news agency IANS.
At present, the city has 5,030 active cases giving some relief to the health authorities.
