Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted mild to moderate isolated rainfall coupled with thunderstorms in coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal due to atmospheric air circulation over the next five days. The MeT also predicted dry weather for the remaining parts of the state and the union territory.
According to a bulletin released by IMD, mild to moderate isolated rainfall is likely to be experienced in coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Parts of interior Tamil Nadu are also likely to experience rains coupled with thunderstorms.
The remaining parts of the state are likely to remain dry on Wednesday while interior districts may experience mild showers for the next five days, said the bulletin.

The western ghats and the places surrounding are likely to experience fog or mist on Wednesday, predicted IMD.
Chennai is likely to remain clouded for the next 48 hours while parts of the city may experience mild showers. The maximum temperature in Chennai is likely to be around 31 degrees C while the minimum temperature may be 23 degrees C.
On Tuesday, Thiruthuraipoondi, Thalainiyayiru, Venkanni and Gummidipoondi received 1 cm of rainfall.

Meanwhile, an independent weather blogger, Raja Ramasamy of Chennai Weather page, said, "Easterly wave may bring showers in #chennai from December 30th/31st. The new year 2022 may start with light rain. Chennai Winter will resume next week."
