Mekedatu Dam Project: All-Party Delegation From TN To Meet Union Water Minister, Says CM Stalin

Mekedatu Dam Project: The statement of TN CM Stalin has come after Karnataka CM Bommai on Thursday said the state is confident in getting Detailed Project Report (DPR) cleared for the project.

Chennai: Tamil Nadu CM Stalin assured that the state government will not allow Karnataka government to construct a dam in Mekedatu and will continue to fight for its rights over Cauvery river.

In a press release, TN CM Stalin said, "Cauvery is a livelihood issue for the people of Tamil Nadu and the state has full rights over Cauvery water. Hence, I am assuring TN people that the DMK-led government will fight, argue and protest for the rights of the state."

"When a petition is filed at the SC about a particular issue, the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) board has no right to discuss the issue. However, the decision of the board to discuss the matter is against law," he said.
