Tamil Nadu: Appointment Of Manikanda Boopathi As Kalvi Tv CEO Creates Stir, Netizens Demand Minister Anbil's Resignation

Kalvi Tv CEO Appointment: Meanwhile, there are also speculations that Manikanda Boopathi's appointment has been kept on hold but there's no official statement yet.

Chennai: The recent appointment of the co-founder of Chanaykaa TV, Manikanda Boopathi, as the CEO of TN School Education Department’s Kalvi TV has created a stir in the state. While some people criticised the appointment of Manikanda Boopathi due to his alleged ideological affiliation to the Right ideology, others started a Twitter trend demanding the resignation of Minister Anbil Mahesh for supporting the appointment.

According to a report on The Hindu, on August 8, the Director of State Council of Educational Research and Training issued an order appointing Manikanda Boopathi as the CEO of Kalvi Tv for two years on a temporary basis.

Following the appointment, several people expressed their opposition and questioned the "RSS affiliation" of the new CEO.

During a press meet on Independence Day, TN School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh was questioned by reporters over the appointment of Manikanda Boopathi. To the question, the Minister said, the work that Manikanda Boopathi would do was more important.

Further, he explained how the Illam Thedi Kalvi scheme also ran into criticism but the education department was careful that the ideologies are not spread through the medium.

However, after the Minister defended the appointment of the CEO, the netizens took to social media to trend #Resign_AnbilMahesh

Social Media Trend Demanding Minister's resignation

On Tuesday, #Resign_AnbilMahesh garnered over 17,000 tweets. The netizens alleged that Boopathi had right-wing leanings and the move to make him the CEO was an attempt to saffronise the education system. The Minister was also criticised for being the president of Udhayanidhi Stalin Fans Club.

On Twitter, DMK MP Senthilkumar said, "The strongest supporter and the harshest critic of the DMK Party/Government is its Humble #DMK_cadres . They are an asset to the party. They will not let the party to compromise/deviate in it’s ideologies or principles."

However, there are speculations that Manikanda Boopathi's appointment has been kept on hold but there's no official statement yet.
