Jallikattu Upheld By SC: Tamilians' Culture, Heroism And Tradition Safeguarded, Says Law Minister Regupathy
Jallikattu In Tamil Nadu: Minister Regupathy said, "Jallikattu is a Tamilians' culture, heroism and tradition and it has been safeguarded by our leader."
On the day Supreme Court upheld Tamil Nadu law allowing 'Jallikattu' in the state, Tamil Nadu leaders and the people broke into a celebration on Thursday. The SC allowing the bull-taming sport 'Jallikattu' said that the sport was part of the cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu.
The Supreme Court also allowed the validity of similar laws framed by the governments of Maharashtra and Karnataka allowing the sports involving animals.
As soon as the verdict was pronounced, Tamil Nadu Law Minister Regupathy addressing the reporters said, “The SC has given a historical verdict for steps taken by Thalapathy (CM MK Stalin). It’s Tamilians culture, heroism and tradition and it has been safeguarded by our leader. We have won the legal fight because of our good lawyers and representation made by them with points given by CM which made the case even more successful.”

“It’s the wishes of people, heroism of TN youth and culture so everything has been protected by our CM. All the members of the bench have given the same opinion. So it is a great success,” he said.
To the question on the cruelty of animals In Jallikattu, Regupathy said, “There’s no cruelty to animals.”
Meanwhile, bull tamers and owners celebrated the Supreme Court verdict by bursting crackers in Madurai.
Madurai's Avaniapuram Jallikattu is a world-famous event and the Jallikattu has also been attended by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
