Chennai: A student of IIT Madras killed himself at the college campus in Tharamani on Tuesday. The police have registered a case and are currently investigating into the matter. 


According to ANI, Kotturpuram police said, "Tamil Nadu | A second-year student from Maharashtra hanged himself in the hostel of IIT Madras. Sources say that the suicide happened due to stress. Kotturpuram police are investigating the case."









 




The deceased has been identified as Srivan Sunny of Maharashtra, who was studying second year at IIT Madras. The student could have taken the extreme decision due to depression.

However, the police have registered a case and investigations are on. 


Meanwhile, an 18-year-old student died by suicide at IIT Bombay. The student died by jumping from the seventh floor of his hostel building at the institute's campus in Powai. However, the student did not leave any suicide notes. The student was identified as Darshan Solanki, a BTech student, from Ahmedabad.


In November 2019, Fathima Latheef died by suicide in her hostel room at IIT Madras. Initially, her family alleged mental torture as the reason behind the suicide. However, CBI ruled out any mental harassment.
