Chennai: The DMK's youth wing members led by youth wing secretary and MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin staged a protest against the parliamentary committee’s recommendations on Hindi in Chennai on Saturday. The parliamentary committee recommended making Hindi the medium of instruction in all central educational institutes.


In a tweet, ANI said, “DMK Youth Wing Secretary and CM MK Stalin's son Udhayanidhi Stalin along with other party workers participate in a protest against the parliamentary committee's recommendation to make Hindi the medium of instruction in central educational institutes.”

Earlier, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin condemned the Union government for allegedly imposing Hindi language. In a strongly worded statement, the DMK president said, "not to impose another language war". 


In a tweet, Stalin said, "Don't force another language war by introducing Hindi! The Union Government should maintain unity."






Earlier, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan wrote to PM Modi on October 12 and said that imposing the Hindi Language was "unacceptable". 

Last week, a parliamentary committee recommended Hindi-speaking states to make Hindi the medium of instruction in technical and non-technical higher education institutes such as IITs. 


The committee also recommended to include Hindi as an official language in United Nations. 


The committee also said that local languages must be preferred over English. The committee is headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
