Chennai: The Vande Bharat Express is set to make its southern debut between Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru on November 10. The 5th Vande Bharat Express which is set to be flagged off will cover 483 km.


The Railways also recently launched the third and fourth Vande Bharat Express from poll-bound Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. Likewise, Karnataka is also poll-bound and elections are likely to be held next year.



On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Vande Bharat Express train at Amb Andaura railway station in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district. The train will reduce travel time and connect Una, Chandigarh and New Delhi. It is also equipped with advance safety features.

The trains as part of Vande Bharat 2.0 will have Train Collision Avoidance System called KAVACH. Hence, the coaches of Vande Bharat 2.0 will have disaster lights and also a battery for backup. The batteries will up to three hours.


The train will have eight flatform-side cameras as against the previous trains which had four flatform-side cameras. It also has a passenger-guard communication system. The system in the coaches will have an automated voice recording feature.

Vande Bharat Express is a make-in-India initiative and the coaches for the express are made in Integral Coach Factory (ICF). The Vande Bharat Express can run at a speed of 160 km/h.


Vande Bharat Express was first inaugurated on February 15, 2019. The commercial service of the train started from New Delhi to Varanasi just ahead of the Indian general election 2019.
