Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced Rs 1 crore each to India 'B' team in the open category and India 'A' team in the women's category of FIDE 44th Chess Olympiad for winning double bronze medals, on Wednesday.
In a press release, TN CM Stalin said, "Tamil Nadu government successfully organised Chess Olympiad in a way that made the whole world appreciate the arrangements."
"In the event, India 'B' team in the open section and India 'A' team in women section clinched a bronze medal and made India proud," he said.
As a result, Stalin said, "Tamil Nadu government will present the two teams with Rs 1 crore each."
He also took to Twitter and announced the same.

On Tuesday, India 'B' team in open section and India 'A' women settled for bronze medal by finishing third in 44th Chess Olympiad held at Mamallapuram in Chennai.
India 'B' team defeated Germany with a 3-1 score in the final round of the match. With the win, India clinched third place. Uzbekistan sprung a surprise by defeating the Netherlands and bagged gold medal while Armenia team won silver medal by defeating Spain in the final round.

Among the women's team, Ukraine bagged gold medal followed by Georgia which bagged a silver media and India which bagged a bronze medal in FIDE Chess Olympiad.
This is the second time India bagged a bronze medal after the 2014 edition of the FIDE Chess Olympiad.
In the general category, the young stars including D Gukesh, R Praggnanandhaa, Nihal Sarin and Raunak Sadhwani gave a spectacular performance. In the women's section, players Koneru Humpy, R Vaishali excelled in their games.
