'Will Stage Black Flag Protest If...': Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Annamalai's Warning To Stalin Ahead Of Oppn Meet
Annamalai reiterated that his party will stage a protest if CM Stalin does not condemn the shortage of Cauvery water released to Tamil Nadu by the Karnataka government.
New Delhi: Taking a dig at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin over the joint Opposition meeting to be held in Bengaluru on Monday and Tuesday, state BJP chief K Annamalai said an alliance that is formed against a single individual cannot last more than a few months, news agency ANI reported. He also reiterated that his party will stage a protest if CM Stalin does not condemn the shortage of Cauvery water released to Tamil Nadu by the Karnataka government.
“An alliance against an individual person (PM Narendra Modi) cannot last more than three months. No one wants to know about the opposition meeting to be held in Bangalore. When there is a Cauvery Management Board, the Chief Minister of the state has no authority to say that he will not give water to Tamil Nadu,” ANI quoted Annamalai as saying.

“But the fact that the Tamil Nadu government has not condemned in this regard makes us sad. Therefore, Chief Minister Stalin, who is attending the opposition meeting, should give condemn it there. Perhaps, if Stalin returns without condemning, we will hold a black flag protest on behalf of the BJP in Tamil Nadu,” he added.
He was referring to the ongoing water sharing dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka where the former flagged the issue with Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) claiming shortage of water being released by Karnataka.
Earlier on June 16, Tamil Nadu in a meeting urged the CWMA to issue a direction to Karnataka to release the actual quantity of water from Cauvery to Tamil Nadu, and also flagged deficit of Cauvery waters for the month of June.
Annamalai also said the BJP would stage a protest against soaring vegetable prices, and electricity bills, in the state on July 23, reported ANI.
