Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with other party leaders and workers began 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' in Tamil Nadu's Kanniyakumari on Wednesday. The leader along with a few other Congress leaders to continue the rally for 150 days scaling from Kanniyakumari to Kashmir.


The yatra has commenced from Kanniyakumari in Tamil Nadu and it will move northwards, passing through Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Nilambur, Mysuru, Bellary, Raichur, Vikarabad, Nanded, Jalgaon, Indore, Kota, Dausa, Alwar, Bulandshahr, Delhi, Ambala, Pathankot and Jammu, before culminating in Srinagar.


The yatra will comprise 118 permanent members and will crisscross the country covering over 3,750 km through 12 states and reach its destination in 150 days.






Ahead of Bharat Joda Yatra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi paid floral tribute to his father and deceased Congress leader Rajiv Gandhi at his memorial in Sriperumbudur on Wednesday. Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar. Sriperumbudur is the place where former PM Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in a bomb blast on May 21, 1991.

Congress calls this yatra a "new beginning" and a turning point in Indian politics as the Opposition is keen on taking on ruling BJP government in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.


Meanwhile, it was reported that Rahul Gandhi will be sleeping in containers, said an ANI report earlier on Wednesday. While the questions raised that Rahul Gandhi's yatra would lead to flooding, the party clarified that the leader wouldn't stay at any hotel and he would complete it in a simple way.


The containers Rahul Gandhi will be staying during his journey have been installed with sleeping beds, toilets and air conditioners.
