Chennai: A day after DMK MP Kanimozhi apologized to BJP leader Khusbu after a derogatory remark made against the actor by DMK party member, Khusbu said that she really appreciates Kanimozhi for standing up for her. However, she said that she’s not ready to accept the apology of the man who made the derogatory comment against her.

Talking to ANI, BJP leader and actress Khusbu Sundar said, “They're not shaming me, they're shaming women of their families, their mothers. I'm not even ready to accept an apology that is just like that given by the man who made the comments.”

“I really appreciate Kanimozhi (DMK MP) for standing up for me. I have always seen her supporting women & their freedom of speech,” she said.

However, Khusbu also requested TN CM Stalin to speak up for her and be a shining example. Khusbu said, “I'm waiting for Tamil Nadu CM to speak up for me to make sure that no other person makes this kind of comment about other women. I want TN CM to be the shining example.”

The controversy started after DMK member Sadai Sadiq called the actors who joined BJP including Gayatri Raguram, Namitha and Khusbu as “items”.

Following this, Khusbu took to Twitter and said, “When men abuse women, it just shows what kind of upbringing they have had & the toxic environment they were brought up in. These men insult the womb of a woman. Such men call themselves followers of #Kalaignar Is this new Dravidian model under Hon'ble CM @mkstalin rule? @KanimozhiDMK.”

Kanimozhi responded to her by saying, "I  apologise as a woman and human being for what was said. This can never be tolerated irrespective of whoever did it, of the space it was said or party they adhere to."
