Chennai: An AIADMK functionary got injured after a clash broke out between the supporters of AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam and co-coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami at party headquarters in Royapettah on Saturday. The clash took place while AIADMK's resolution committee was holding a meeting on the first floor of the party office and Panneerselvam was holding a meeting with his supporters on the ground floor of the party HQ. 


On the other hand, Edappadi Palaniswami is also holding consultations with former Ministers including SP Velumani, Vijayabaskar and Thangamani at his residence. All the leaders are discussing the possibility of unitary leadership in AIADMK ahead of the general council meeting scheduled on June 23.


According to a report on ABP Nadu, the injured AIADMK functionary was identified as Marimuthu, former Perambur secretary. He is a supporter of former Minister Jayakumar and Edappadi Palaniswami.

Speaking to the media persons at the party office, Marimuthu alleged, "They hit me because I am a supporter of EPS. I was getting down from the first floor through the stairs when they attacked me." 


On Saturday, the number of party members arriving at the party office started to gradually increase in the morning and as the security personnel were unable to tackle the crowd they closed the gates to the AIADMK party office around noon.

However, the party members at AIADMK headquarters in Royapettah continue to demand the party high command postpone AIADMK general council meeting on June 23.
