A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in his debut speech in the Parliament, criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Manipur, former minister and AIADMK member Sellur Raju has questioned Gandhi's silence on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's absence in Kallakurichi. The question comes as Congress and DMK are in an alliance in Tamil Nadu.
Raju highlighted that last year, over 20 people died after consuming illicit liquor in Villupuram, and more than 60 people died in Kallakurichi recently. He expressed his discontent over the fact that the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Edappadi Palaniswami, was not allowed to speak on the issue.
Former minister and AIADMK Sellur Raju on Tuesday said, "Last year more than 20 people died after consuming illicit liquor in Villupuram and more than 60 people died in Kallakurichi recently. In this regard, when the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Edappadi Palaniswami, tried to speak, he was not allowed to do so. "
"Till now, MK Stalin has not met the victims of the Kallakurichi tragedy but Rahul Gandhi asks why Modi has not gone to Manipur yet. Rahul Gandhi didn't ask Stalin why he did not go to Kallakurichi. We demand CBI to investigate the Kallakurichi case," he said.
