Chennai: All cases pertaining to the attack on AIADMK headquarters in Chennai on July 11 will be transferred to CB-CID for further probe, the Madras High Court was informed on Thursday. The court was informed through a submission made by a government advocate when a writ petition by AIADMK MP CVe Shanmugham came up for hearing on Thursday.


When the matter came up, the government advocate told justice Satish Kumar that DGP on August 24 transferred the case to CB-CID. Following this, the judge adjourned the matter till September 19.

Earlier, AIADMK leader CV Shanmugham filed a petition seeking to issue direction to the state Home Secretary, Director General of Police and the city Commissioner of Police to transfer the investigation on the complaints dated July 12 and July 23 relating to the violent incidents that happened on July 11 to CBI or other special investigation agency.

Shanmugham stated that O Panneerselvam along with 300 'hooligans' carrying deadly weapons trespassed into the party headquarters at about 8.30 am on July 11 and ransacked party headquarters and took away important documents.

The party members also damaged the office equipment and other values.

On July 11, violence broke out at AIADMK party office at Royapettah while the general council meeting was ongoing at a marriage hall in Vanagaram. The clashes turned violent that day after EPS camp expelled Panneerselvam from the party and picked Palaniswami as the party’s interim chief.


However, later, a single bench order of Madras HC declared July 11 meet as invalid and decisions taken in the meet. It also told to maintain status quo on July 13. Following this, EPS camp challenged the order and it is now being heard by a division bench.
