New Delhi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party over recommendation by the Election Commission for his disqualification as an MLA for violating electoral law. The opinion was sent to Jharkhand Raj Bhavan in a sealed cover this morning. Jharkhand Governor Ramesh Bais who was in Delhi this morning took a flight back to Ranchi after which it will be published in the gazette.

Targeting the BJP, Soren said, “It seems BJP leaders including a BJP MP and his puppet journalists themselves drafted the ECI report, which is otherwise sealed.”

He alleged “misuse of constitutional authorities” by the saffron party. “Blatant misuse of constitutional authorities & public agencies & its takeover by BJP HQ in shameful manner is unseen in Indian Democracy,” the Chief Minister added.

The Jharkhand Chief Minister’s Office in a statement said, “The Chief Minister is apprised of several media reports about ECI sending a report to Jharkhand Governor "apparently recommending his disqualification as an MLA". No communication in this regard has been received by CMO from either ECI or Governor”.

Meanwhile, Governor Bais while on his way to Ranchi from Delhi told the reporters at the airport that he is not aware of anything as of now.

“I do not know anything as of now about any order for me. I have gone to AIIMS for treatment, I can only say anything after I reach Raj Bhavan.” he said.

Reacting to the development, former Jharkhand Chief Minister and BJP leader Raghubar Das cornered Soren saying that he “should be stripped of his membership”.

“Let's see what action the Governor takes. Not only he (Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren) should be stripped of his membership but he should also be debarred. Action should be taken against him under the PC Act as it's a matter of corruption. He misused his position,” Das said.
